TAB Global and Temenos host CXO reception to discuss financial innovation and resilience

On the eve of the Singapore Fintech Festival 2024, TAB Global and Temenos hosted an exclusive CXO networking reception at Swissotel, The Stamford. The gathering provided a relaxed setting for executives across the industry to connect and exchange views on key themes in finance, including technology innovation, operational resilience, and sustainability.

Opening the reception, Foo Boon Ping, managing editor at The Asian Banker, emphasised TAB Global’s mission on building both content and community that empower financial leaders to navigate change. Exploring themes like technology and infrastructure modernisation in the financial services industry, he highlighted the importance of technology upgrades and digital tools for boosting productivity, automating processes, and advancing data analytics, insights and decision-making —particularly in risk management and compliance.

He also spoke about the broader digital economy and the role of the the banking sector in shaping it. Emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and quantum computing are setting new standards for efficiency, transparency, trust and scalability.

Temenos leaders provided additional perspectives on digital transformation and sustainability. Ramki Ramakrishnan, managing director of Asia Pacific at Temenos, emphasised the company’s commitment to supporting its banking clients with adaptable, scalable solutions that promote business growth. Ramakrishna outlined Temenos' approach to digital transformation in banking, underscoring the need for agile solutions that help banks stay competitive.

Frankie Wai, business solutions director for Asia Pacific at Temenos, highlighted the impact of generative AI in banking. He illustrated how AI technologies can enhance operational efficiency by accelerating data analysis and improving compliance processes. Wai emphasised AI’s role in delivering personalised services and simplifying banking operations.

Anoop Sonpar, senior vice president at Temenos, discussed the potential of software as a service (SaaS) solutions for boosting operational flexibility and efficiency. He explained how Temenos’ cloud architecture supports modular deployments, allowing financial institutions to adapt rapidly to regulatory shifts and evolving market demands.

Speaking on sustainability and environmental, social, and governance (ESG), Kalliopi Chioti, chief ESG officer at Temenos, shared the company’s ongoing commitment to ESG standards. Chioti outlined initiatives supporting clients’ low-carbon goals through sustainable technologies like the Temenos Banking Cloud. Temenos’ focus on carbon efficiency aligns with the industry’s increasing attention to environmental responsibility.

Foo underscored TABInsights' contribution to these areas through benchmarking programmes like the TAB Global 1000 Strongest Banks, World’s Best Retail Bank, Best Digital Banks and Top Financial Platforms, as well as the Digital Banking Working Group, which evaluates financial performance and resilience, balance sheet strength, operational and technology excellence and customer-centric product and service delivery of financial institutions globally, to drive industry best practice and continuous improvement.

He shared details about TAB Global’s events, such as the Asian Banker Summit, held annually in financial centres worldwide. For 2025, the summit is scheduled for Jakarta, focusing on issues relevant to ASEAN markets. As part of its commitment to nurturing future leaders, he highlighted the International Bank Management and Leadership Programme, which provides a platform for emerging leaders identified and groomed for strategic roles to develop the skills needed to lead in a rapidly changing financial landscape.

The TAB Global and Temenos CXO Reception highlighted the alignment between digital innovation and sustainable banking practices.
